Meet Annie

A little bit about me: I live on the south coast of England with my family (spouse, two dogs and two cats) and work part-time as a university researcher. I love reading (obviously) and fully expect to one day be crushed by the weight of my toppling β€˜to be read’ pile. Books are just lovely to be around, aren’t they? I like cupcakes almost as much as I like books but funnily enough I don’t seem to have a towering β€˜to be eaten’ pile hanging around. I also love the sea and am lucky enough to live only a few minutes’ walk from a beautiful harbour. When not reading, writing or eating cupcakes, I like to go for long walks in the saltmarshes near my home.

I’m now working on my next novel– a body-swap, timeslip, feminist ghost story set in late 16th century Italy which I’m very excited about.

I’m represented by Susan Armstrong at C+W and you can also find me on social media by clicking on the icons. Don’t forget to check out my Instagram and Twitter feeds below!

Hello and welcome to my website. I’m so excited that my debut novel
The Hollow Sea - which will be published by Penguin Michael Joseph on 18 August 2022 - is almost out in the wild for readers to discover. It’s about identity, grief, coming to terms with childlessness, mother/daughter relationships and reconnection with nature, and has bonus whales, seals and even (perhaps) a mermaid or two. I really hope there’s something in it for everyone. Click on the image for more information.
